RESPOND at the European Commission’s Anti-Corruption Workshop

On January 23, RESPOND took part in the Anti-Corruption Workshop organized by the European Commission, DG HOME, DG RTD, and the European Research Executive Agency (REA). The event brought together researchers and policymakers to strengthen the link between EU-funded research and anti-corruption policy efforts.

RESPOND was featured alongside other projects, including FALCON, KLEPTOTRACE, and POSEIDON, contributing to a broader discussion on integrity, transparency, and the fight against corruption. Alice Mattoni, RESPOND’s scientific coordinator, presented the project’s work, emphasizing its role in providing empirical and theoretical evidence to support ethical governance and trust in democracy.

The workshop served as a platform for researchers to engage directly with EU officials working on anti-corruption policies. Participants discussed the importance of data availability and reliability, highlighting the need for a harmonized approach to anti-corruption efforts across Europe. The conversation also explored how social engagement, education, and institutional reforms can contribute to more effective governance.

This workshop represents an important step in ensuring that research-driven insights help shape policies. It also marks the beginning of a dialogue that aims to strengthen collaboration between projects and policymakers, with potential follow-up events planned as new milestones are reached.
